About Michael

Fields is currently a 6th grade teacher at a public charter school in Aurora. He has a law degree from the University of Colorado. Fields was raised in a family that placed a high value on education. His father grew up in a low income African-American neighborhood in New York. Then, his father went on to become the first person in his family to graduate from a 4 year college – and later earned his PhD and became a professor. His mother teaches English as a Second Language.

In college, Fields was the President of the College Republicans. He then served as a paid intern for the U.S. Senate HELP Committee under Senator Mike Enzi (R-WY) during the health care reform debate. In law school, he served as a policy aide for the Colorado House GOP. He has also served as a campaign manager for Ryan Frazier. In addition to teaching, Fields does part-time business consulting work.

He is married to Mele – and they have a son, Malakai. They also have a catahoula puppy named Blu. The Fields attend church in Centennial, and like to watch sports in their free time.
